Dear visitors,
It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to the official website of the Organizing for Haiti Incorporated. Thank you for visiting us, and please take your time to explore it.
The shock and pain following the 7.0-magnitude earthquake in Haiti are still hunting the citizens of Haiti. As you know, Hundreds of thousands died, and thousands more were left injured and homeless. Schools, Hospital, businesses, homes and lives were destroyed. Most of the survivors of Port-au-Prince have resorted to sleeping on the streets and in their own backyards. It is very dangerous for them to be out there without any shelter, especially during heavy rain.
The people of Haiti are suffering from a disaster of unthinkable proportions, and we must do all we can to help them recover in the weeks, months, and years ahead. Despite the local and international efforts, hungry children are still living in tent cities, countless people have no alternative but to sleep beneath bed sheets strung on poles as makeshift tents. Those families lack sanitation, food and privacy.
Immediately following the earthquake, we purchased and distributed tents and other items to more than 60 families in our neighborhood who were affected by the earthquake. In April, we shipped items such as wheelchairs, walkers, comforters, pillows, sleeping bags, crutches, clothes, etc. (see updates). Those items were donated by co-workers, church members, friends, etc. Our goal is to assist many more neighborhoods in Haiti.
We thank God for everyone who helped us reach out to the disaster victims. We have faith you will help alleviate the suffering of survivors who struggle to rebuild their shattered lives. The people of Haiti will need our support, our prayers and our hope in the days ahead.
Thank you for helping the suffering people of Haiti through this crisis. Please keep them in your prayers and close to your hearts at this time.
